Database Solution Architect/ Sales Engineer
Job Location: Silicon Valley, CA (preferably, with highly qualified candidate other locations will considered)
Job Description:
Continuent is the market leader in delivering data availability and data protection solutions for open source databases to be used in business critical applications. We are seeking a high technical individual with business sense who can help provide the spark to drive deals both before and after closing.
This role includes the following duties and responsibilities:
• As part of the sales process, evaluate prospect technical requirements, develop business cases and proposals, implement proofs-of-concept, and deliver after sale implementation.
• Manage multiple simultaneous deals with complex requirements and with multiple customer contacts ranging from CTO/CEO to individual contributors.
• Work closely with development team to articulate customer requirements to drive new features, tools and capabilities.
• Assist in and advise on tools and methods to simplify all aspects of a client implementation, such as, scripts or automated tools.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering/CS or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of pre-sales experience with major database vendor, such as Oracle, DB2 or Sybase, especially including high availability and database clustering projects, client evaluations, trials or POCs. Raw RDBMS knowledge and skills a must.
• Technically adept in “state-of-the-art” database technology, application stacks, system administration, and multi-tenant architectures such as are commonly used in ISPs and SaaS
• The ability to develop effective working relationships in cross-functional teams, strong oral and written communication skills, computer skills, and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills are a must.
