Operations Engineer / Linux SysAdmin

Simply Hired is looking for a great Operations Engineer to help take our production environment to the next level of stability, scalability, automation, and transparency.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer science

* Experience: 3-5 years in web operations/data center environment

* Fluent in Linux/Unix

* A track record of practical problem solving using Perl or Python

* Experience with x86 servers, switches, routers, load-balancers, storage systems, etc.

* Understanding/experience of TCP/IP, HTTP, security, storage, SQL databases, memcached etc.

* Experience with LAMP/Java/open-source stacks, particularly around performance tuning and troubleshooting errors

* You are someone who prefers automation over repetition

* You see projects through to their completion

Responsibilities:

* Actively participate in the engineering process we have applied to site operations

* Help improve our uptime and scalability through better processes, infrastructure, and automation

* Troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, applications and network

* Configure servers and network

* Continually document and expose configuration processes and policies

* Prioritize tasks and work independently, while interacting with other product and engineering teams

* Share on-call duties with other engineers on the team, to ensure smooth 24×7 operation of our top-100 site

This position is located in Mountain View, CA.
